Before anything else: please don't dig through the ash
The ash left when a building burns is not campfire ash. It routinely contains asbestos fibers, lead, arsenic, and other heavy metals, and disturbing it sends those into the air you're breathing. Washington law treats burned structure debris as presumed asbestos-containing: it can't legally be cleared until an AHERA-certified inspector has tested it and a Notice of Intent is on file with the Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency. We'd rather tell you that plainly and lose a job than watch a neighbor shovel that ash with a bandana on.

What we can't do — and who can
We are a junk removal company, not a certified asbestos abatement contractor, and we won't pretend otherwise. If your structure burned, the path looks like this: call your insurance company first, then have an AHERA-certified inspector sample the ash. If the tests come back clean, a Notice of Intent is filed with Spokane Clean Air (the fee is currently waived for fire-affected owners) and clearing can begin. If asbestos is found, a state-certified abatement contractor handles that portion. How we handle fire jobs
A fire doesn't change our rates — you pay the same upfront, volume-based price as any other job, quoted before we start. You get an itemized invoice through Jobber for your insurance claim, and we'll photograph loads on request. Anything salvageable gets donated rather than dumped. And if what you actually need is a testing company, an abatement contractor, or just the right phone number, we'll point you there free of charge.

My home burned down. Can Muvit clear the debris?
Not until the site is tested and cleared — Washington law requires an AHERA-certified asbestos inspection and a Notice of Intent with Spokane Clean Air before burned structure debris is removed. Is it safe to clean up fire ash myself?
Structure ash often contains asbestos, lead, and heavy metals, so no — don't sweep, shovel, or shop-vac it. Even around a standing home, wear an N95 or P100 respirator, gloves, and long sleeves, and never use a vacuum without a HEPA filter.
Can you remove smoke-damaged items from a home that's still standing?
Yes. Smoke-damaged furniture, mattresses, carpet, clothing, and spoiled food from an intact home are exactly what we can handle now, and we can usually get there fast.
Do your prices go up after a disaster?
No. You pay the same volume-based rate as any other job, quoted upfront before we touch anything. Be wary of anyone asking for large cash deposits after a fire.
